ABOUT
Oona Maeve is the alter ego of Lien Schoonis, a vocalist and songwriter with a passion for music that has been with her since a young age. Her musical journey began with pop music, where she was inspired by catchy melodies, beautiful lyrics, and a light, uplifting atmosphere.
Soon after, she discovered jazz and realized it was another passion of hers. Lien studied jazz vocals at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, where she became fascinated by improvisation and the emotional depth jazz music offers. She decided to incorporate these elements into her own music, blending them with her pop influences.
With Oona Maeve, she has found her unique sound, one that plays with contrasts and blends influences from both pop and jazz. Feeling both introverted and extroverted, she seeks to highlight the contrasts within herself. She is dreamy and introspective, yet at times passionate and full of energy. She is drawn to not only balance but also the beauty in the contrasts that define her music: stories that start small but feel grand, harmonies that resonate, and melodies that linger. Her songs breathe both softness and strength, fueled by a love for poetry, improvisation, and unexpected beauty.
